Waters
Violet Waters was born amidst the Twenties' roar. She wanted to sing! She was nurtured in the classics by her father, a literature professor at Central State College, a prestigious Black school. And from the time she was a baby, her life was filled with music, listening to her grandmother play the church organ while her mother sang in the choir (and every waking minute of the day). But, most importantly, her family filled her with a sense of pride and taught her always to be true to herself, no matter the odds.
Mood Indigo Doll, a circa 1948 inspired Costume:
Brown hair. Styled with center parted victory rolls in front, braid-wrapped low chignon in back. Maroon lips, purple and gold eyeshadow.
Navy satin day suit. jacket has white lined collar with asymettrical placket, A-line skirt has asymettrical pleasts diagonal across the front.
White satin portrait hat with feather trim, white "lace" mesh gloves, navy satin half-circle clutch handbag with white trim.
Navy and white spectator pumps.
Faux Pearl teardrop necklace and earrings.
She is jointed at the Neck, Shoulders and Hips.
Doll comes with a story card explaining the Costume that she is wearing and the backstory for that Costume.
New Condition Violet comes Never Removed from her original Box with Doll Stand and she comes with Original Protective Shipper.
Stand is found between the doll’s feet, the doll is standing over it.
Certificate of Authenticity is a low number, #304 of 3000 dolls made.
