Joel Sasieni apprenticed at Charatan, and moved on to Dunhill, where he eventually rose to the position of factory manager. Many men would have been perfectly satisfied with such a position, but not Mr. Sasieni. He opened up his own factory in 1919, believing he could improve on some of Dunhill’s methods. Sasieni was determined to put the Four Dot logo on only the most perfect pipes.
Here’s a very large, 7 ½ inch long Canadian shaped pipe from Sasieni with an attractive black blast. Carved from a large block of premium briar, the shank itself is 3 ½ inches long. It houses a chamber 13/16

inches in diameter and nearly 1 ¾ inches deep, for those who enjoy those longer contemplative armchair smokes. Draft hole is dead center flush with the bottom of the chamber. Pipe has a beautiful, fully unrestricted draw. Tenon to mortise union is sound, snug and flush. The Lucite stem has a comfortable, larger than average button. Pipe does not accept a filter.
