Esta subasta es por una (1) medalla promocional en metal blanco, de 40mm (poquito mas grande que tamaño Peso gordo),borde ranurado, y condición excepcional cuyo anverso muestra a RON CARIOCA. Su reverso el distribuidor Neuyorquino. La pieza muestra excelente estado de conservación, y es garantizada anterior al 1960.
Esta compañía, que muchísima gente ni sabe que existió, estuvo exactamente ubicada justo donde ahora son las facilidades del Ron Bacardí de Cataño, la cual, escapando la confiscación y nacionalización de empresas que Fidel Castro impuso en la hermana Kuva, Bacardi brinca a Puerto Rico y se tragó la diminuta Carioca, al igual que docenas de compañías locales que de la noche a la mañana vieron Bacardí monopolizar casi por completo la venta a los Estados Unidos, la fuente mayor de ingresos de Carioca. La marca Carioca, que aún existe, fue adquirida por la Schenley de Canadá y llevada a embasarse allí para ese mercado, ahora bajo la destilería Canandaigua.

Here is an auction for one (1) 40mm - 1.5 inches - bit larger than Morgan Dollar sized white metal, and reeded edges medallion from Ron Carioca, back in the day a the largest distilling company in the Metropolitan Area of San Juan, located in Cataño, just a ferry away from San Juan, right in view of the El Morro Castle. The obverse features the logo of the company of the New York company that used to import Ron Caroca Rum. The medal, which surely dates form the 1950s, is in pristine condition, uncirculated or almost uncirculated, all original shine! This company was literally swallowed by the Kuvan Bacardi between 1958 and 1960, when its operations were hastily moved from Santiago de Kuva to Cataño, once Bacardi family heard of the upcoming nationalization of all Kuvan companies by Fidel Castro, so huge Bacardi purchased the economically midget Ron Carioca, and even occupied Carioca's infrastructure. The world famous Bacardi headquarters in Cataño, in fact, where built on top of the much older Carioca buildings!. The Carioca brand itself survived by being acquired by its distributor, Schenley imports, who took it to Canada where it is still made under Canandaigua Destileries. Very scarce!
