    Description

Apparently my mother saved the entire Arizona Republic from when Governor Evan Mecham cancelled the Martin Luther King holiday.  Also above the fold is "School-aid cut mulled by Mecham; Governor speaks of 'new beginning.'"  The upper fold of the paper is dedicated to Mecham's State of the State speech given the previous day.
A large photo of the Governor giving his speech with House Speaker Joe Lang and Senate President Carl Kunasek looking on takes up about 1/2 of the space above the fold.
Below the fold are articles on "IRS leaves 40 horses to starve; we are a tax...agency, not the humane society." "A.M. alert:  Early birds fly high, prof chaims."  "First 'Star Wars' stage foreseen as operational by early 1990's."  "3 locomotives halted in time in crash probe; Train's brakes applied after spotting of signal." "Iraq attack on kids charged." (With picture) and the "Today" section that tells what else is in the paper.
Newspaper is in good condition with a slight wrinkle in the upper left corner.  (See photos)  Slight yellowing of front pages.
